Instruction

In the FLEx program, we believe that learning is both an adventure and a partnership between the schools and the families. Each of our grade level instructional programs have been designed to meet the Virginia Code seat time requirements for students through a combination of synchronous instruction (live on Zoom with an HCS teacher) and asynchronous instruction (completed by families at times of their choosing). Additionally, FLEx follows the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) Standards of Learning (SOLs), using the state’s curriculum framework documents to ensure that students learn the required material.

There are some required activities for the asynchronous minutes, but the majority allow the family to choose how they will engage in the learning and do not require being on a computer or device.
